from a Biblical Perspective and has kept in touch with Bill
since then.“Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devilwalks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he maydevour (1 Peter 5:8).
To be sober and vigilant means to notwalk around intoxicated and disorientated by things thatpull us in a direction which allows the enemy to have anadvantage over us. In other words, when our guard is downwe can be attacked. We are to be alert at all times, lookingout for the enemy who is seeking to do us harm.
We are living in the last days and must be informed aboutthe tactics of our real enemy, Satan. We must recognizethat there is a real war being fought for our very souls. Ourbattles are against the world, the flesh, the devil and hisangels.Jesus gave us an example to follow in knowing our enemy.
He said “Beware of false prophets, who come toyou in sheep clothing, but inwardly they are ravenouswolves” (Matthew 7:15). These kinds of enemies are hardto detect because they may look like sheep, smell likesheep, but inwardly they are carnivorous.
For example, predators that prey on children seem so nice and sweet.Children get lured away with things that are pleasing suchas soda, candy, money, and toys. When a child’s trust isgained, the predator pounces with his/her evil schemes.Perhaps an adult can relate more to the scenario of aperson who seems to want to form a friendship by beingnice and inviting, but then becomes evil and controlling.
Once that evil is turned against you, it takes on the formof you being bullied. A domineering person who wantsto control the other person in a relationship will hide theobvious warning signs at the onset.
This is an old tactic butnew to many unsuspecting victims who fall into the trap ofa life of pain and control.Evil bullies such as pimps, gang members, drug dealers, child molesters, murderers, rapists, thieves, and those whocommit horrific acts of violence are like Satan. They uselies, deception, enticement, intimidation, and entrapment. Our real enemy uses bullies and other means in an attemptto lead us astray and purposefully destroy our lives.Knowing your enemy and His tactics will determine youroutcome. Knowing the Lord Jesus will determine yourvictory.
