SDR News: THE TRUTH about Defensive tactics for POLICE: As much as I know about this subject. I hear about self defense and defensive tactics are two separate things. THE TRUTH IS YOU NEED BOTH. What does "Defensive Tactics" really mean? The root word is GREEK.
" The word " Defensive" literally means APOLOGIA. In English we use that word when we make a mistake as to say 'I AM SORRY'. But, to the ancient GREEKS it was a military term it mean to cover yourself. The word "Tactics" means in the GREEK it is ...'Taktikos' or methods.
So, defensive tactics literally means to cover yourself with methods ( WHERE IS ARREST METHODS IN IT?). It is included in the area AS methods or "TACTICS" or meeting short term goals TO SUBDUE or RESTRAIN an assailant. I also hear martial arts, MMA ( Mixed Martial Arts ) is not good for police officer's either. Well, let's look at this from a realistic perspective. Martial arts is the 'ARTS of SKILLS of MARS'.
This is direct martial arts from a ROMAN PERSPECTIVE. Past or modern Law enforcement officers HAS ALWAYS BEEN a branch of the military ( Federal, State, and Local ) from a smaller perspective.
So, to be quite honest, that would be inaccurate. Self defense means to ' APOLOGIA' or to simply cover yourself. This is pro-active or re-active. Battlefield Pan Kau Rau Shen sees things from these angles. See more at www.streetdefenseresearch.com. Learn. Grow and Prosper.
